Take a stand

Internet anonymity is wrong. It will never end. Never. As long as there is internet, there will be people who are lying and spreading filth and hatred behind the “safety” of their monitors.

As my good friend Gwen told me : Anonymity + Audience = Total Dickwad

Technically, Even I am hiding behind a thin veil of anonymity, with my Bluepaintred pseudonym.  The difference in a screen name, and a fake name, is that I have a home base where people can reach me, where I can be found, my home, so to say.

Something happened today, and not even to me, that really upset me. Its presumptuous of me to assume that the person who cowardly hid behind their screen will ever read this, but that won’t stop me from taking a stand.

There are rules for everything in life, even being anonymous.

To start.

If you are already hiding behind your fake non identity, then at least have the guts to own the words you are saying. Stop hiding behind a crowd by saying things like “People are saying…”

NO. People are not saying things, YOU are, even if you are hiding who you are, YOU are the one writing hateful things. Own it.

Second of all. You are a cowardly bitch. You are hateful and in your life, something is lacking. That you feel the need to bring someone down, that the need is SO strong that you will go to great lengths – such as creating a fake email, well. It’s sad.

Pitiful even.

    Even tho I have no idea to whom or what you are referring, what you say is true. ANYONE who chooses to hit and run and won’t stand personally behind their words is a coward–whose opinions mean NOTHING. I know this from personal experience–I used to do just that.

    Then I GREW UP.

    And grew a set of convictions–and balls. If I’m not willing to OWN what I say, I DON’T SAY IT. It’s called “being a decent person.”

  2. I agree with what you are saying BPR. Even though I have a screen name I have ways to be contacted and I NEVER comment without leaving my blog addy & email. Some people are just trolls.

  3. Everyone knows who I am and I would never hide, there are things I don’t share but I am who I am. I also don’t believe I have ever been anon, it’s so fucking cowardly. If I can’t say something to someone myself then maybe it’s because I shouldn’t fucking say it.

  6. The power behind anonymity can be intoxicating. Unfortunately, a few bad seeds tend to pollute the whole freaking orchard. Trolls suck. They are bullies. And they all have miserable lives.

  8. You know that I agree with you on that front. A troll who hides behind anonymity, who isn’t even accountable to a blog or some type of tether, is a piece of shit.

    I’ve always felt that if you’re going to say something, be willing to back that up. If you’re not, don’t say it.
