2009, A meme.

(I stole this from Kat!!)

1.What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
The boys, Micah and I went on a long vacation, out of province, by ourselves. Planned, paid for and everything, by ourselves, like real responsible adults. I also made a roast! Several of them AND WE DIDN’T DIE!!

2.Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I’m not big on NYR. I mean. I never keep them, and then get all sad that I didn’t manage to do X or Y. Like I like to tell the boys, Start the way you mean to go. I’m determined to start this year happy, heatly and with the ones I love the most. The rest of the year had better follow suit.

3.Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. January Second saw the birth of a sweet little boy. He doesn’t like me. Yet, but that will change once aunty spoils him proper.

4.Did anyone close to you die?
Almost. My father had a very, very close call. It was horrible.

5.What countries did you visit?
Well. Canada for one.

6.What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Silly, I know, but I would like to keep my house cleaner.

7.What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July fourth. See #4

8.What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably – and don’t laugh – learning to cook proper adult foods like roasts and lasagnas and stuffs. I also printed out a map and drove somewhere all by myself.

9.What was your biggest failure?
I don’t consider anything in 2009 to have been a failure. Sure somethings I tried didn’t work out, but as long as I learn from it, it’s all good.

10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. Uhm. Yes. Yes I did.

11.What was the best thing you bought?
Probably the wool peacoat for 17$. That would be the best bargain, but my favorite things I bought were my new shoes, and allllllllll of my new socks.

All of them.

12.Whose behavior merited celebration?
My father and his wife. They took what happened on July 4th, and changed their entire lives. they are more active, the eat better, and I think they are just generally enjoying life more.

13.Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Due to the varied readers of this blog, this question will remain unanswered.

14.Where did most of your money go?
Bills and food and food and bills. And socks.

15.What events did you get really, really, really excited about?
I met a blogger in real life this year, and I was both overly excited and overly terrified of that, but also Christmas. I love Christmas.

16.What song will always remind you of 2009?
Hmm. I don’t listen to a lot of music, and I have a problem with dates – including years, so even if I DID listen to music a lot, I would never remember that X song was from Year Y.

17.Compared to this time last year, are you:
i.happier or sadder? Happier. I think. I was pretty happy last year. Can i just say Stayed the same?
ii.thinner or fatter? Fatter LOL
iii.richer or poorer? Richer. Or, at least, as soon as I check my lotto numbers for tonight, I will be.

18.What do you wish you’d done more of?
Everything. There are never enough hours in the day tog et a good mix of everything done during the day/night.

19.What do you wish you’d done less of?
*shock* sleeping.

20.How will you be spending Christmas?
We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day with Micahs parents, and Boxing day at my dads – the place was packed, the whole family was down :o ) It was …happy.

21.Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
Probably Jessi and Sheri

22.Did you fall in love in 2009?
Yes. But I fell in love with the same person I’ve loved for nearly 13 years. I find that love both stays the same and changes, at the same time, and I look forward to those changes and what they will bring :o )

23. How many one-night stands?
Well, I did break the rules once and took Sammi to bed for a nap with me one afternoon. Does that count? i doubt it, it was int eh afternoon and not the night.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Uhm. I watched Canada’s Worst Driver this year, so by process of elimination, I guess it wins!

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I refuse to waste my time hating someone.

26. What was the best book you read?
OMG. Impossible question. Almost every book I read is “the best”, at least during the time that it takes to read it. If we go by how many times I re-read a book (..or series) in the year, Twilight wins, hands down.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery or rediscovery?
Uhm. yeah. no. I’m not all that into music.

28. What did you want and get?
SOCKS!

29. What did you want and not get?
*sob* the Cannon Rebel xsi

30. What were your favorite films of this year?
Erm. Not twilight or new moon, that’s for sure. Look. You need to realize that I have favorite movies, but I simply cannot remember. were they from 2008? 2009? 1990? I’m, not good at dates like that. I cannot be expected to answer questions like this! For crying out loud people, I got my OWN children’s birth dates tattoo’d on my body, and USE said tattoo when filling our forms!

31.What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
This year I turned 30, and it was spent with my family. It was a good day.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
well, for one, winning the lottery, and second, winning the lottery. How awesome would it be to be home with my hubs every day? To not worry about paying bills and to take the boys to Disney land or just for a run through the toy store without having to say No?

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Well. I got new socks. And then i changed the kind of clothing I wear so that I could show off said new socks. Is that fashion?

34. What kept you sane?
Twitter. Seriously. Logan started Kindergarten this year and I was at a loss as to how to deal with the sudden quiet and emptiness it brought.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most/least?
uhm. none

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
None of them

37. Whom did you miss?
I miss my BFF kissy. She is always working. Always, and I miss spending time with her.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Would have to saw @latefines, but just so she doesn’t get a swelled head, she is the ONLY new person I met this year LOL

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
“If Momma is happy, everyone is happy”

40. Do you have any lost feelings of others.
I’m not sure I understand the question.

41.Quote a song that sums up your year:
Montgomery Gentry; Something to be Proud Of

There’s a story that my daddy tells religiously
Like clockwork every time he sees an opening
In a conversation about the way things used to be
Well I’d just roll my eyes and make a bee-line for the door
But I’d always wind up starry-eyed, cross-legged on the floor
Hanging on to every word
Man, the things I heard

It was harder times and longer days
Five miles to school, uphill both ways
We were cane switch raised, and dirt floor poor
‘Course that was back before the war
Yeah, your uncle and I made quite a pair
Flying F-15’s through hostile air
He went down but they missed me by a hair
He’d always stop right there and say…

That’s something to be proud of
That’s a life you can hang your hat on
That’s a chin held high as the tears fall down
A gut sucked in, a chest stuck out
Like a small town flag a-flyin’
Or a newborn baby cryin’
In the arms of the woman that you love
That’s something to be proud of

Son graduatin’ college, that was mama’s dream
But I was on my way to anywhere else when I turned 18
Cuz when you gotta fast car you think you’ve got everything
I learned quick those GTO’s don’t run on faith
I ended up broken down in some town north of L.A.
Working maximum hours for minimum wage
Well, I fell in love, next thing I know
The babies came, the car got sold
I sure do miss that old hot rod
But you sure save gas in them foreign jobs
Dad, I wonder if I ever let you down
If you’re ashamed how I turned out
Well, he lowered his voice, then he raised his brow
Said, lemme tell ya right now

That’s something to be proud of
That’s a life you can hang your hat on
You don’t need to make a million

Just be thankful to be workin’
If you’re doing what you’re able
And putting food there on the table
And providing for the family that you love
That’s something to be proud of

And if all you ever really do is the best you can
Well, you did it man

That’s something to be proud of
That’s a life you can hang your hat on
That’s a chin held high as the tears fall down
A gut sucked in, a chest stuck out
Like a small town flag a-flyin’
Or a newborn baby cryin’
In the arms of the woman that you love
That’s something to be proud of
That’s something to be proud of
Yeah, that’s something to be proud of
That’s something to be proud of
Now that’s something to be proud of

Ahhh Holidays

Today was spent entirely in my pajamas  – up until now. Now, I’m fresh out of the tub – Chocolate bubbles FTW – and sitting in just my robe.

Holidays are awesome!

Micah and the boys are home with me until the fourth of January, which is awesome except for the fact that Micah and the Boys all got different DVD’s to watch of shit that I am absolutly NOT interested in. I did manage to get a game of battle ship in with Parker (I won!) but other then that I’ve been seven different kinds of bored.

Christmas was great.

I got socks :o ).

The boys got socks :o ).

Even Micah got socks :o ).

The dogs however, did not get socks :o (.

My camera has been acting up something awful, so I got absolutly zero pictures of anything Chrismas related, and that makes me sad. Then again, there isn’t much I can do about that, so I refuse to dwell on it.

And yeah. Thats about it. Im good, brats are good, christmas was good…annnnd boom goes the dynamite, I guess :o )

LoLz

Ahem.

Tonight was date night.

Micah and I went to Boston Pizza – worst fucking service EVER. We were seated, the waitress took our order, and got our drinks – only the Pepsi I ordered was the end of the canister becuase it was lighter than iced tea, disgusting- It took 45 minutes for us to see our server again, where she sullenly replaced our drinks and gave us a dirty look for suggesting maybe she bring us silverware. An hour and ten minutes passed before the manager noticed we were..uhm..upset.

It took her an additional 20 minutes to deliver our food.

Boston Pizza FAIL.

No matter. We had shopping to do – We needed a bell. (Blake asked Santa for a bell from his reindeer – too cute) After locating a bell we headed to Wal-Mart becuase I love Wal-Mart and my feet were sore.

I wore my new shoes.

I bought a pair of slip-ons and sighed a grateful sigh and we walked around. For a long time. And bought lots of things we didn’t need. . . Right when we were getting ready to leave, Micah held up this :

023

(LOOK! He even sparkles like in the book!)(just kidding, I was too lazy to turn the flash off)

Because the Team Edward doll was not priced, I picked it, and the Jacob Dog Doll up to swipe them under the price checker thingamabob.

Turns out Wal-Mart is Team Edward, cus it scanned Eddie immediately, but refused to tell me the price for Jakeypup. (Not that I wanted to buy the Dog.)(Except. . . maybe it would have been fun to take them both home and have epic Sparkley Vampire Vrs. Wet-Smelling Dog battles while I soaked  in the tub…..)

And that? That is ALL it takes to amuse me.

:o )

Pretty much me yelling about everything

Yesterday I was just getting up to make Logan lunch when he threw himself on the floor and demanded I put peanut butter on his tummy for the dogs to lick off. I was agreeable to that becuase I had been meaning to video tape him giggling as they licked. Figured it would make a cute video. I was up on a stool getting the peanut butter (Oh what I wouldn’t give for a few extra inches in height) when Logan screeched that the ceiling was dripping on him. (He then suggested that he is old enough to take a shower and could he get the strawberry shampoo and have a drippy roof shower. Odd kid)

I dunno about you, but that’s the kind of news that rather ruins my day. Turns out that the sky light had a few inches of ice build up during our cold snap and when the sun came out to play, it started melting. And dripping.

The peanut butter and video went right out the window…oh should I say right out the sky light? No matter. It sucked. The dripping, not the almost peanut butter video. That would have been great. Thankfully the sun went back behind the clouds and I only had to stand there for an hour or so wiping up drips (Got to get the water as it drips down the shaft of the sky light becuase it will ruin the ceiling if it gets that far.

022

We had to attend Blakes Christmas concert – I will rant about that in a bit – so it wasn’t until 9pm that Micah was able to get up on the ladder and use my blow dryer to melt all the ice. It’s so much easier (on me, not Micah) when he melts it, that way all the water can be cleaned up at once, instead of keeping a constant drip vigil.

I’m SO done with that sky light, It’s been nothing but trouble. This summer we are tearing it out, filling the spot with  NO WINDOWS ALLOWED roofing, venting and insulating the shaft, putting a false ceiling in and either installing a sunshine ceiling there or some other sort of lighting. Maybe track?

In any case. DONE.

As for the concert. First of all, the concert was put on by the grade two and four classes, and for some reason, Blake was put in the back row, with a bunch of grade four kids in front of him. Other than seeing him line up at the start of the show, we did not see him at all. Did it not occur to the teachers that kids in grade four are larger than kids in grade two?

Second. Tonight there is a winter festival. Movies in the gym, caroling in the small gym, crafts in the library, and a huge bonfire outside with fireworks to finish. Sounds fun, right? Too bad we won’t be going. Why? Oh because of last nights concert. See, the concert was for the 2 and 4’s. The winter festival is for the rest of the grades. Grade two and four are NOT ALLOWED to come to the winter festival. We chose to keep all three boys home instead of saying to Blake – hey, go play with Nana while we all go see a 20 foot tall fire and some fireworks without you. yeah fucking RIGHT.

The school tried to explain to me that it is a room thing, that they decided to only have two  grades do the concert so that the parents would be able to fit in the gym easier (as it was, it was standing room only) and the winter festival was for the rest of the school. I do not care how you swing it, it is DAMN unfair that the twos and fours have to miss out, and its damn unfair that Logan and Parker are going to miss out as well. And you can bet your ass that we are not the only family with kids in multiple grades.

I got The Most Awesome shoes in the mail. And then I got The Most Awesome Socks in the mail. The two go well together. I want to try and convince Micah to take some pictures of my shoes and socks on me, but It might be hard. I wonder if it would help if I told him I would pose topless? (Dear internet, if the topless thing works, the photo YOU see will not include boobage. Sorry) Still. Tell micah (he reads the comments) that you want pictures of my new shoes and socks.
