Knock on Wood

We have been having unbelievable wonderful weather. Seriously. There is still green grass. It’s not green from growth, just…still green, not dead, and most importantly not covered in SNOW.

Because of the wonderful weather I am trying to convince Micah that we need to put up outdoor Christmas lights this year. Micah doesn’t really like putting up Christmas lights because normally it is freezing cold and I stand outside screaming at him to not fall off the ladder as he tries to get the lights on without freezing off his fingertips.

Micah is not Team Gloves.

This year I want to get them thar high falutin’ LCD (is that he right letters, even?) Christmas lights. Except, that’s a fuck lot of cash to spend on lights all at once, KWIM?

Oh well. Christmas comes but once a year!

In other news:

My sister had her angiothingamabob done yesterday and it went well, the vein is clamped sealed an hopefully not gonna open again, and the surgery to remove the kidney is scheduled for sometime tomorrow AM (12th). Here’s hoping that part goes as well as the first part!

  1. I had hubby up on the ladder putting up Christmas lights over the weekend. Why not in this nice weather instead of freezing your hands off. We won’t turn them on until Thanksgiving night. We’ve slowly been purchasing the LED lights and now have a full compliment on the house. It looks good. Sending good luck vibes to your sister and family.

  3. The LEDs save electricity, so there’s your justification for spending the money.

Keep your sister in my thoughts and prayers today.

  6. @Finn – Good point! Thanks for the good thoughts!

@Robin – Thanks robin – have you considered the fact that maybe your cats aren’t Jewish and would like a tree inside that they can climb?

@Avitable – OOPS! You used “Crazy” When I think you meant to use “wonderful”

  7. Prayers for your sister.

Oh yeah, those lights need to go up NOW. Make hay while the sun shines, as my Grandma used to say! (hmmm, maybe she wasn’t talking about decorating . . . GO, Grandma!!!!)

  8. One of the big box home improvement stores – Home Depot? Lowe’s? – is giving something like $3 off a box of LED lights for every string of standard lights you bring in, working or not. At this point we don’t do the whole house, because none of us cheerful folks like ladders and the one of us who does enjoy ladders is a complete Scrooge, so Eddie and I do around our entry and across the stairs to Mom and Brian’s domain.

And I’m sending awesomely happy thoughts your way for your sister!
