This morning it was drab and cool. The sky was threatening rain any second. We ignored it and went to the school so that I could be shown up by a seven year old who got better grades on one report card then I did all 12 years of schooling. Combined. (Parker did really good too, but the thought of him only having one more year in the elementary now that he has passed on to grade five make my heart cry)(Grade six is the start of High School)
AHNYway. This afternoon it was great, sunny, Hot. Cloudless. The kids asked for (and were denied) access to the sprinkler. Actually, to be honest, they were allowed to use the sprinkler – which is set up under the trampoline – until I saw that they had put the basketball net on the trampoline. Then I got mad and said NO! I DON’T CARE IF YOU ARE SWEATING MONKEYS, NO SPRINKLER AND NO TRAMPOLINE!! And then I stomped away from them like the very mature almost-thirty year old that I am.
… … Just in case you thought my kids were perfect and that I was a spot-on awesome mother.
So, lets see. So far we have had cool, looks like rain, and hot enough to sweat monkeys weather. What could possibly be next?
Naturally, a tornado warning came next, which was almost immediately followed by a watch as reports of funnels touching down started coming in. Parker and I went out to check out the sky. I’ve never seen clouds like this. It wasn’t so much the color or shape or amount, as the fact that the clouds swirled one way then the next, then back again. Actual rotation. Right over my house.
Now. I say right over my house because the dark and swirly clouds were right over and directly in front of my house. To the right of me, this is what we saw:
Blue sky with fluffy white clouds. I have to say that I am super impressed in the fact that simply turning from one direction (straight forward) to another (facing right) made such a dramatic change in the lighting of the photos. They were literally snapped seconds apart and with the exact same settings. I’m sure a real photographer could explain this to me in a heatbeat, but I am content to just sit back and giggle over the change.
The TV and interwebs are both still screaming at me that there is a danger of imminent tornado, and that I should seek cover immediately, but.. you know, seeing as the entire sky, as far as the eye can see, looks like this*, I’m just going to ignore them.

(And yes, I drew this in Paint, instead of taking a picture, but point for me, I DID go out and check to see if stars were visable before painting them in SO HA! SUCK ON THAT INTERNET!)
