Paragraphical Bullets (without bullets)

Hey so, does anyone remember the movie Shaun of The Dead better than I do? It’s gonna be on TV on the 23rd and we are thinking about watching it for our “Movie Night”, but I can’t quite remember it. The boys are VERY OK with blood and gore and death and people being ripped to shreds. They have, all three, watched and enjoyed AVP and the Blade movies and stuff along those lines. I, however, have issues with drug usage and nudity when it comes to what they see on TV. I don’t *much* mind curse words, because I am capable of telling them why not to repeat them. So. What say you?

Blake had his first dentist appointment where more than just a cleaning was done. He banged his face into his scooter, chipping a piece out of one of his adult front teeth and it had to be filled. I don’t have any pictures of  him in the chair becuase I had no idea how he was going to react to getting the needle for freezing, so Instead of taking pictures (the dentist’s office has amazing light, makes for AWESOME pictures) I held his hand. Turns out he did awesome and had no problem whatsoever with the needle. (The drilling scared him a bit, but he got over that quite quickly.)

Today Parker had what I believe was his very first experience with teasing based on his looks. When I picked him and Logan up from school, he told me as we walked to the car, that a bigger kid told him “You have really big ears sticking out of the side of your head. Yeah. You have a little head and big ears” during recess.  I’m pretty damn proud that he just smiled and told the bigger kid that “Everyone’s ears stick out the side of their head, unless you have no ears“, and walked away. Boo.Ya.

I called to make Micah an appointment with his doctor this afternoon. The earliest they can get him in is next Tuesday, four days from now.  This is the same doctor who’s receptionists make me wait two to three weeks for every appointment I ask to make.  *pout* Micah tripped on the stairs last February and hurt his foot. Ever the sympathetic wife, I oohed and ahhed over his colorful bruising and promptly forgot about it. Last night he mentioned that he still can’t put his full weight on it, or move it “this way”, and that maybe he should see a doctor. Uhm. Ya think?

In other news, I desperately need to shave my legs.

  1. Parker sounds like he did good with the teasing. My little girl was being teased by a gaggle of boys in the lunch room the other day and she just got up and bitch slapped a kid out of his chair. (He was a head taller than her too.) At least yours brushed it off. Good for him.

  3. Just watched Shaun of the Dead for the bajillionth time and there is no nudity, no sex, and Shaun and Ed like to drink…..no drugs for those guys. The boys will be cool with it.

Now go shave those legs, Chewbacca!

  4. I’d let them watch Shawn, but then most intelligent people wouldn’t trust me to look after a house plant, much less three kids.

  8. Parker did a good job with the bully – kids need to know from the get-go that bullying is NOT cool and if you learn to brush it off early, it’s easier to deal with. And nice response – and very true! :)

  9. Shaun of the Dead has cursing, especially since “fuck” isn’t quite the strong word there that it is here.

I find it interesting that it’s okay for the kids to see violence, but nudity or sex is bad. How is one worse than the other?

  10. Micah didn’t whine the whole time? My husband makes sure I know about all the aches and pains. I think he thinks I can make them go away or something.
