Insert big sigh here

Fast approaching us in my son’s ninth birthday, and In the nine years since I have become a mom, I have gotten VERY used to doing nothing.

I haven’t worked at a job since high school, and this haven’t had to be up or dressed or showered at any particular time in the day. I have not had to worry about scheduling things so that they get done at a certain time or in a certain way. I am lucky enough to have a husband who, beyond having clean underwear socks and dishes,  who doesn’t care if I keep a clean house or make the beds.

As such, When I have days and days of things that NEED to be done by a certain time, on a certain day, I get so VERY stressed.

A quick run down of the past few days and the days ahead of me :

Friday: make a cake, and remind Hubs to decorate it for Parker’s Party on Saturday. (Parker had his birthday early becuase his actual birthday falls on a weekday.)

Friday: Make an effort to clean the house. (I refuse to have people over when the house is messy. REFUSE)

Friday: Deal with Hub’s father coming over to replace the air intake filter cover things as well as lecture me and Hubs on “Important Financial Matters” (translation : YOU SUCK! YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!)

Saturday: Parker’s birthday party – 12:30 PM til  8PM.

Sunday: Remember i need photos printed up for Logan’s Family day at Pre-K. Run to the city to get them done.

Monday: Wake up late, Drive the boys to school, Late. Fight my germs long enough to shower and take Logan to school for our scrapbook class.

Tuesday: make thirty cupcakes.

Tuesday: Remind Hubs to decorate 30 cupcakes

Tuesday: 5:15 parent teacher interview for Blake

Wednesday: Pajama day at school for the kids

Wednesday: Bad hair day at school for the kids

Wednesday: Take Sammi to grade Four for Parker’s Show and Tell.

Wednesday : Take decorated cupcakes to school for Parker’s Birthday

Wednesday: Bake another Birthday cake for Parker. Decorate it myself (EEK!)

Wednesday: 5:15 Parent teacher interviews for Parker

Wednesday: Another Birthday part for Parker – this time for family memebrs to attend

Thursday: Carve Pumpkins

Friday: No school (THANK GOD)

Friday: Halloween.

I’m sure to those of you who work all day and have to do this stuff in the evenings, it sounds incredibly easy, but I don’t handle change well. I like my routine, which is NO routine, and until all of this stuff has been dealt with, especially now that you factor in my cold, I am going to be next to useless for the next few days.

(I warned you ALL that I tend to whine a lot when I am sick. Do NOT say I didn’t warn you!)

  2. The kids don’t have school on Halloween? Is that because its Halloween, or coincidence?

  3. I don’t do nearly half of what you’ll get done this week. Eddie has Fridays off and does the laundry and vacuums, and my only tasks are to clean the litter box and cage for the animals and maybe put the laundry away. This week I’m slightly busier, since it’s Halloween. I’ve got to finish my costume (I’m hemming an apron) which hardly counts as a chore, and carve out two more pumpkins before Friday.

My hat’s off to you :)

  7. Well think of it this way. Bad Hair School Days go perfectly with Pajama Day a the school. That one was planned and executed perfectly!

  9. too much to do in too little time, you’re right. Activity overload is not fun.
But at least you can eat cupcakes (why make 30? Make it an even 3 dozen and slide off some for YOU).

  10. Sounds like way too much to do for someone who does nothing.
