This one looks good

So. How was your Weekend? Mine was expensive. In under six hours I spent almost a thousand dollars, and that *kinda* hurts. And then? Someone, I think cat, hubs thinks dog, peed on my couch. Granted it was a very old ugly couch, but dammit! It was MY couch! I Sit there!

So now the couch, which REEKS, is sitting in the garage, (it’s too old to try and save) and my living room looks barren. I flat out refuse to buy new couches until the kids are older, so I have been half heartedly looking through the online classifieds. AND! And! My house? It smells like pee. I washed the floors and the walls, and sprayed the other couch and the mat it sits on and the drapes with fabreeze, but it still smells. Not as bad now as this afternoon, but still. Gross.

Any suggestions?

Sigh.

*EDIT* Vindication! I sent Smokey to her bed for a treat. When I bent to give it to her, I smelled The Smell, really strong so I moved Smokey and sniffed the dog bed. Bingo. More pee. And there is NO way Smokey would pee in her own bed. That cat better get a freaking clue, and SOON. The dog bed? In the trash, thank you very much.

  1. Steam cleaning? Though if it’s soaked in far enough, there’s really no way to reach it. :-(

  2. @Dave2 - Thats the worst part. By the time we figured out where the smell was coming from (the first time) it had not only soaked in, but was almost completely dried. The couch, I am afraid, is a total loss.

  5. Time to take kitty to the vet, when cats start randomly peeing on things, it usually means they’re not feeling well (UTI, usually). Last time one of our cats did that, she had to have surgery for a bladder stone.

  6. I think Tigger is doing that because of Smokey. She is marking her territory and stating her displeasure.

  7. I didn’t think girl cats did the territory-marking thing?
Now, stating her displeasure - totally!! But, you’ve had Smokey for a while and I would have thought Tigger would have done this sooner if that is the motivation.
    Sorry about the couch…
I’m dying to know what you spent $1000 on?????

  11. Another reason I don’t keep cats, or allow my dog onto the furniture. Ew.
But yeah, maybe the cat is sick?

Ooo! I have that exact same cabinet, only dark cherry stained!

  12. Plus those hookers have to be able to charge in American AND Canadian dollars; this does not come cheap, I would imagine.

Check the scratch & dent aisle of any furniture stores fro a couch (from previous posts, I would think you could do that from the front yard with a pair of binoculars); always deals to be had there, and you could probably talk them down even more. Just a thought.

Sorry about the pee smell. Maybe a pet store sells some kind of spray that neutralizes it?

  13. My dog pees her bed. But she ain’t right. It should be easy to figure out though, cat pee has a very distinct odor compared to dog pee. More of an ammonia smell to it.

  14. Cat pee is tough to get out, and requires an enzyme. I think the stuff is called Nature’s Promise and you get it in the pet store. And then they make a pheramone type of thing that you spray where they have been peeing and it’s supposed to calm them down and deter them. It worked for me! GOod luck! Poor kitty is upset about summin’
