*love*

Some of you have already seen this photo on Facebook, twitter or on one of my other blogs, but I am SO pleased with this, that I HAD to share it here as well!

You see, I stop by the pet clothing section every time I am in the store and there is NEVER anything in Smokeys size (she wears size Pony), but today, not only did I pick up this adorable gingham dress (nine bucks!) but a sweet fleece lined denim winter parka for her!

I think Smokey KNOWS she is pretty, she has been prancing around all day, and has taken to doing a full body shake whenever the tulle (under the skirt, you cannot see it in the picture) gets flat, to poof it back up!

Hubs was SO sure she would refuse to wear it, and would ruin it in minutes, but I knew better. All little girls need at least one pretty dress!

Also, on Friday I had my first pedicure, and i have to say, I’m just not sold on the idea of spending 47.95 like that again. The atmosphere of the place was amazing, The colors, the decor, it was all perfect. The chair was comfortable and the water JUST right. The pedicurist was chatty, but not too chatty if you know what I mean. She was very thorough, and I came out of there with great looking toes – but overall? I doubt I will do it again.

I will admit that the 25 minutes she spent massaging my feet – thats 25 per foot people- were probably the  best fifty minutes I have ever spent in my life, and I would Definitely pay 47.95 just for that, but the whole toe painting and foot scrubbing? meh, I can do that at home. But, at least now I can say I tried it!

oops!

Our backyard is pretty crowded now that Smokey’s run has been set up. And her dog house has been placed. And her little plastic wading pool has been put out and filled.

When we first moved from the big bad city where the kids were not allowed in the front yard, to our nice, quiet, safe small town, my mother in law informed me that it was a waste of energy to dismantle and move the swing set.

Meh. What does she know? The kids love the swing set! And so we moved it. And now, after almost three years of small town living, I find out that she might just know more than me. The kids never use it, well except for that one time when Parker handcuffed the younger two to the slide, but that was last summer already, so that doesn’t count.

So I decided to put the swing set up on Kijiji. Kijiji is like craigslist, only easy for me to navigate. So all day I have been  replying to emails from people interested. I put the Swing set on as “best offer” more eager to move it out than to make a buck. After about ten different people offered 50, I figured that was the going price on used swing sets, picked one name at random and began our correspondence.

We talked eight times during the day, she needed to send the photos to her husband and make sure he agreed. Just before supper she asked for directions to my house becuase the street name and number I had supplied in the previous email made no sense to her. I sent her detailed directions and awaited a reply for an estimated pick-up time.

This was her reply:

XXXXX_XXXXXXXX to me

How far is that from Toronto? and Which highway to I take?

For a brief moment I was floored astounded confused. Then, with trepidation, I clicked over to my link in Kijiji.

Oh FUCK!

Here is my ad. Do you see the problem?

lets go a bit bigger. Now do you see it?

Oh yes I did. I put the stupid ad up in the Toronto section of Kijiji. In case you were wondering, and you might be, becuase until I looked it up tonight, I had no idea, but Toronto is approximately 2927 Km from me.

Needless to say I emailed her, apologized, deleted the ad and put it back up – in MY area.

Momma told me there would be days like these.

Hypothetically Speaking

I’m not saying that this photo was taken in my backyard, but if  it was, I’d plan on being very busy next weekend.

In an Instant

On Saturday, I was driving home from my tattoo appointment, when two cars collided in the southbound lane. Before I was able to register what the sounds meant, I had already driven past the accident and continued on my way home.

Accidents are interesting. People always slow down and stare, secretly hoping to see a severed arm or ever a dead body – don’t bullshit with me, you know it’s true – but how often do people think of the families of those involved with a crash?

I know I don’t not really. Oh, of course, I give them a passing thought while we are passing the accident at a slow crawl, but after that? They never cross my mind at all.

Vehicular accidents are on my mind right now because my brother was almost killed in one this afternoon. I’m not saying “almost killed” in the sense that I am taking dramatic license, or to make for good blog fodder – I say it becuase today my brother shook hands with death and walked away. Well. Hobbled away.

Danny had his ankle and knee crushed, thankfully, they are just bruised and swollen, and so far x-rays show no broken bones, though he will have to return after the swelling goes down. The front windshield was safety glass, but the rear and the side, both which shattered on his head, were not, so while he was with the doctor he also had to have glass shards removed from his arm, scalp and eye.

I will put the photos behind the fold, simply becuase when I load up Bluepaintred tomorrow I do not want to be faced with them again.
